Hi everyone,

I have a slight problem with my network. I have 2 computers connected via a switch on a LAN. One is a Win2K Domain Controller(192.168.0.1) and I am logged on as Administrator. The other is Win Xp Pro(192.168.0.2) but it's not joined to the domain. It's on Workgroup and I am logged on as Administrator.
I can browse shared folders on the Domain Cont. from the XP workstation. But the DC cannot have access to the XP workstation. In Windows Explorer I get an error saying: " \\XP is not accessable. Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."

Ping XP replies OK.

Should I be looking at granting rights on any of the comp?

your help is appreciated.
Thank you

Try mapping a drive to a share on the XP machine, and specify a different user name to connect with. Enter the administrator username and password from the XP machine and you should be able to connect. Then, once you've authenticated with the XP machine, you should be able to browse to its shares.

As I tried map drive thru Windows Explorer I realised I couldn't browse for a folder on XP. I went to create a folder on XP and tried to Share it but couldn't as it pointed me to run the Network Setup Wizard. After that I authenticated the DC from XP.

I thought XP was already a Workgroup as it said Workgroup: WORKGROUP in System Properties and it should be able to see other computers connected to it, by default. But now I have configured it for Networking so it works.

THanks
