I have a Win 2000 PPTP VPN set up. I can ping everything on the network by name or IP, but cannot see remote machines in Network Neighborhood or map drives. I have searched high and low and can't really figure out the problem. Using DHCP to assign ip, wins, and dns to remote clients - all seems to be configured correctly. Any ideas?

Open lmhosts.sam in c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
Copy to lmhosts.

Follow the instructions in the file for defining the IP, Server Name and Domain Name. Save and reboot. Glenn

I was able to figure it out: there was an NT4.0 server on the domain still configuring as a DHCP server and it also had IP forwarding turned on. When I disabled these features everything worked.
