Hey guys i have a pressing question that i hope someone can help with. Currently we have a network set up with a Pix Firewall acting for security. We have the webservers set up and you can of course reach them from the outside but when you are inside the network you cannot access the web site by its web address. You can access it if you use the Local IP address on the LAN but not the name. Sounds like some sort of DNS passthrough issue but im not sure.Does anyone know what command or what i need to do to allow this traffic. Basically what i mean is like say you were sitting at one of the workstations in the Yahoo LAN and not being able to access yahoo.com. That is the way we are now. From home or anywhere else i can access our site with no issues but from inside the LAN when i type in the web addess it isnt able to find the server.
HELP
Thanks in Advance!!!
Jim

This is a common issue with Pix firewalls - they will not redirect traffic back out the LAN port if it comes from the LAN port.

One workaround is (assuming you have an internal DNS server) to add an A record redirecting the to the LAN IP address. If you use only external DNS, you could modify the client HOSTS file to achieve the same thing.
