Hello all,
I've have a windows 2003 server which will no longer boot from its hard disk.
The system partition was moved from another disk, by creating a software RAID mirror and then removing the original copy. All this worked fine except that the copy on the new disk will not boot.
The actual system is fine, because I can boot it from a floppy disk, but the boot manager does not appear when attempting to boot from the hard disk. The boot.ini entry is exactly the same as on the floppy disk, so that isn't the problem. The disk is not faulty, as I have tried the copy with several different disks (both SCSI and IDE) with the same results. I am confident that the BIOS settings
are also correct, and there is no driver issue as it is a BIOS accessable drive.
In an attempt to fix this, I have fixed the MBR and the boot sector with the recovery console, both of which have had no effect. The partition table looks to be correct to I don't think that is the problem either.
I am now out of ideas, and wondered if anyone else had ever encountered this strange problem.
All the best,
PAUL
