I installed an Adaptec 2906 SCSI in a Pentium III 500mhz machine and now the machine doesn't get past the detection of the SCSI BIOS. HELP!!

Disable the SCSI BIOS and see if that helps.

It boots without the card. How and why would I disable the SCSI BIOS. Thats the card I'm trying to install

With the BIOS active it is probably trying to find a SCSI drive to boot from. You disable the SCSI BIOS and you still find the drives, you just don't try to boot from them anymore.

How do I get it to stop trying to boot to it. I can't see anyway of configuring it.

most BIOS allow you to specify boot order. Until you can install an operating system on your new SCSI drive, you'll want to make sure that the drive containing your current OS is earlier than the SCSI drive in your boot order.

Every BIOS is different - usaully you can see a message when the computer first powers on instructing you to press some key or another for setup. On my Award BIOS, i have to press the Del key; others use the Esc key, others use function keys. Once you're in the BIOS, look for "Boot order"
