I have two winnt 4.0 servers and one of the is the media server.
Now i have a new 2000 (iis) server in another domain but i cannot acces it with veritas backup 8.6.
So i installed the remote agent and open file option locally on the 2000 server. I have shared the drivers to backup them.
But if i try to connect from the media server(nt4.0) to the 2000 server with the user defined share mode in veritas backup software, the program isn`t responding anymore it just hangs.
Windows 2000 server is running with RestrictAnonymous = 0.
Can anybody help me!!!!

Veritas gets touchy when involing different domains. First you have to have a two way trust established. Then you have to put your winnt server's domain admin account into the local admin's group on your 2000 server. Also, Backup Exec needs to run on an administrative account for the domain, especially for Exchange.

No need for a domain trust. I have 8 domains, all behind firewalls with a minimal number of ports. This is what you need:
use the password utility to establish a user/password for the target machine.
Verify that you can connect using this by useing net use.
Run job.

If you are on 3 all you need is port 443 adn 6103 once the agent is installed.

Realy is no need for a trust.

Which password utility ??
and how using net use ??
