Cannot backup the Exchange Mailboxes

Each time I run the backup I get the following error message:
Resource ErrorsError: a000fe09 - The directory is invalid.

The problem is that I get this message on the Exchange Mailboxes folder.

The backup runs on a seperate server and both server have the required software / agents installed and these are running.

I've followed all the instructions I could find in the Veritas database but none have helped.

What version of exchange? Can you post more the of the error?

The version of Exchange is 5.5 which runs on Windows 2000 sp4.
And backup exec version 9.1

The only error I get is the:
Resource ErrorsError: a000fe09 - The directory is invalid.

Have you made the service account you are using to back up exchange mail enabled????

That error usuall means a mailbox for the user still exist on the exchange server but there maybe no account assigned to it in AD or NT Domain.
