i have one machine on my network the BE refuses to attach to. i run BE as a backup user which can connect to every other machine in the network except this one.

there is nothing special in terms of permission on the machine that i am aware of. i simply added it to the domain like all others. default share is enabled according to server manager on the PDC.

other very strange thing that i noticed is that when i run a ping of the machine using the netbios name it comes back with the wrong ip address. this machine has always used DHCP but for some odd reason the other machines in the domain think it is at a different ip. one which is not even in the ip range of the DHCP server in the office.

i'm totally baffled. anyway any ideas??

Sounds like it's not a BE problem. Have you tried giving the machine a static ip?

sounds like you have a WINS server that has an old static entry misreporting the IP. if your active directory DNS has an entry that is incorrect this too could be an issue.
