cannot apply template

Hi there,

I sometimes get this error when applying a template (on different versions of CR XI R1 R2 and CR 2008) and I can't figure out why its comes up sometimes and not other times.

I've restarted CR 2008 today and it still comes up.

Has anyone figured out why this sometimes comes up when you try to apply a template?

Any help would be great.

Please clarify. What combinations fail?

I'd expect a template to fail if it includes something that works in one version but not in another. If that is it, then you need an instance of each template for each version.

Hi Madawc,

Its a simple report based on the sample database (Xtreme). Just pulling in a few fields into the detail area. I could apply the template on one machine with CR 2008 installed but not not on the other machines. The one machine where it worked was a virtual machine with Windows 2003 Server.

So I tried something. I removed the preview then applied the report and then it worked.

I still don't know what sometimes causes this but I guess its not a big deal to remove the preview and then apply.
