Ok, so i have a user who needs to add custom words to his GW user word list (ie names etc, during a spellcheck he clicks on "add" to add the word to the dictonary, not an unreasonable thing to do! The problem is that the "addition" is temporary..next time he runs spell check, the word is flagged as being spelled wrong again. Novell seem to have come across this problem and have "sent it to the development department"..that was in 1995! surely someone out there has found a solution by now?!?!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

The user needs to have "write" rights to the root of the C: drive. The user dictionary is C:\WT61US.UWL (if using "US English"). If they cannot modify that file, they they won't be able to add items to the list.

We ran into a similar problem when a user was running GroupWise on our Citrix server. Since they don't have admin access to the Citrix server, they couldn't modify the user spelling list. I created a "how to" for our users which tells them how they can create a new spell check dictionary which is stored on their network home directory.

Feel free to use it if you want. It's written for GroupWise 6.5, but should work for older versions.

P.S. In the document, a reference is made to "Z:\GroupWise Dictionary\USERLIST.UWL". Since you don't have access to this file, you can just use the one which is on your C: drive as the template.
