Hi There,

We don't seem to be able to access the standby 8700 (v12)through the web browser,or telnet or complete a save trans (message: Cannot access the standby Server at this time). The IP address pings ok and the network has been checked to make sure there is nothing attached to that ip address. Does the standby server require a reboot to resolve the issue?

Thanks for your help in advance...

fraggles,

the situation is perfectly normal, no need to reboot anything. you just can't save translations nor do any configuration on the standby server. do it on the active server and they will synchronize it automatically.

No, it's not normal. You should be able to telnet to the standby and web browse to the standby.

You just can't access a SAT session on port 5023 because communication manager is not running on the standby...

I have just experience this just last week, i can't access the standby server already and whenever I execute save translation it returns me that message. I did perform rest and power down the server but still the message persist. Is there a way to resolve this?

Thanks

First things first.

JayNEC is correct, this is not normal. You should be able to web to the standby server and check it's config and all that.

I would web to the active and then status summary under the Server tab. Check the status and let us know what is down or status no. Next check the standby and check the mode(let us know what it says) and then last but not least make sure the control network shows all yes' and your hardware and process are okay.

This is just the start.

tmgpx,

Have checked on the server status:

duplication = yes
standby busied = no
standby refreshed = no
standby shadowing = on
duplication link = up

and as for the alarm on the server is "FSY"

tnx

That's a filesync alarm. Which is expected given what you just showed us. Something is very wrong with your standby server.
If you cannot telnet to it or anything, you may HAVE to do a hard shutdown on it and see if it comes back up. If not, it's rebuild time or some hardware has failed. Very possibly the hard drive.

I did all that shutdown before but unfortunately it did not resolve the problem. That was i was thinking to do, rebuild it but my guess is that something hardware failed. Because we did experience some power glitch here and cause one of the UPS to go down. Probably some hardware did not mount properly during start up. Cause by the sudden shut down which did not unmounte properly.

Well but still hopes are up here hoping someone could help resolve this.

Well, if you had a UPS glitch - it's very possible that you simply have a corrupted HDD. In that case a rebuild would do the trick.
