I've got a problem going on,I can access my email through a hard wired connection directly connected to the router(WRT54g) but using a wireless connection (wpc54g),it won't work.I mean internet is fine,i checked on the configuration of my Outlook and my connection is using the "Local Area Network",I also forwarded the ports on the router, using the port 25,110,enabled the DMZ Host using my computers IP address, the MTU is set 1400.
I don't know what I am missing and I am also using latest firmware of the router which is the 1.30.1.I don't know..please I need some help guys!

Thanks in advance.

Port forwarding is unlikely as a source of this problem. Blocking WAN requests is possible, however, but would effect equally wired and wireless connections.

It is not clear from your note if you are using the same machine when testing both wired and wireless connections. If they are different machines, focus on any differences between the machines. In one case such as yours that I saw recently, the wireless machine's firewall was set to block all ICMP and IGMP traffic, and the e-mail provider, Verizon in this case, required IGMP be permitted to succeed.

There are several possible factors that can lead to your result, but the fact that your problematic connection is wireless I suspect is a coincidence.

An excellent site to investigate possible OE remedies is this one:

Bill,
Thanks for the reply.Yes,I am also using the same computer connecting both wired and wireless.I have two computers back at home, the other computer works fine(Windows98),but this particular computer won't work.I don't know. But the question is,does this problem of mine has something to do with the linksys router and card,or something to do with my ISP(comcast)?Do I still have to do any further configurations and troubleshootings with my system or what?

Thanks,
Julius

Have you applied the recent router firmware updates and new client software? Router was given a firmware update last week, client in early June.

One note: there was a firmware issue of wireless connectivity when no wired client was connected and on. Resolved by the new firmware.

Bill,
Thank you so much and you gave a lots of good ideas.

Thanks again,

Julius
