I have a Windows Server 2003 Virtual Dedicated Server hosted by GoDaddy.

I'm running (or trying to run) a Java Web application on top of JBoss.

When I run it on the server locally everything works, but it just times out when I try to access the page from the Internet.

The only firewall that is currently implemented is the Windows Firewall. The port that the application listens on is open. I even tried turning off the Firewall software for a while to test it, but I had the same results.

Can anyone offer any ideas for what to check?

Thank you.

GoDaddy maybe using a firewall?

I'd test it out. If you can get to a plain .html file in IIS hosted on your site remotely then IIS is woking over port 80 right. Well I would then set your Java app to also work on the same port if at all possible. If that works OK then it must be port blocking on some level.

Cheers,

Steve.

It turns out that GoDaddy was blocking port 8080 with a firewall. They don't tell this on their site and I had to talk with them for a while before they would tell me. Apparently there is some information that they only tell their customers on a need-to-know basis.

Thank you.
