Cannot access google via IE5 browser 1

For last 3 days or so I have been unable to access the site

http://www.google.com

using IE5 (WIN XP) Prior to that, I experienced no problems accessing google and I am unaware of what may have changed. Doing brief searches on web,it does not look as if google has been down for last 3 days(?)

I get a "cannot find server" error and "page cannot be displayed" message

If this is a browser-related problem,what are possible causes? Or if not,what are possible causes?

I am not experiencing difficulty accessing any other sites

Do a search for your "hosts" file, hosts has NO extension, not hosts.sam

open the file in notepad, if there is a line referring to google - delete it, save the file and try again.
