A friend of mine has a workgroup with the following machines. A sony laptop with XP Home Edition, a PC with ME and another PC with Win2k. They are all using static IP addresses. The win2k PC can access all the files on the other two machines. The laptop with XP and the Win ME PC can access each other files.
The problem is the XP and the ME machines cannot access any files on the Win2k machine. When he tries to map to the Win2k machine the other two machines kept asking for a network password. He has tried the password for all three machines but this did not help.

Make sure that the user names and passwords being used on all three machines are the same and that the share & NTFS (if any) permissions allow anon access and everyone access. CJ

You need a user account on the win2k machine with same user id/password as used to log onto ME and XP machines (so one user account on 2k machine for each user name/password combination used on the other 2 machines). Using same user name/password on all 3 machines will obviously work if that's what you do - but lacks flexibility.

You were spot on Charlie Jax and Wolluf. I really appreciated your help.
