I made a rookie mistake and ran
sp_configure 'tempdb in ram (MB)', 1076
reconfigure with override
obviously i don't have over a gig of ram and pagefile but i misread the option as being in Kb. Now SQL Server wont start. I can start the service by adding -f to the parameter list in the Service Manager(WINNT 4.0 sp4) but if i start it this way all it allows me to do is start the SQL executive app and see the server. I cant expand the view to see the databases so i can set 'tempdb in ram' back to 0. When i try to expand the view of the server in the server manager window of SQL executive i get the error message
'A Connection with the server could not be established - [SQL Server] There is insufficient system memory to run this querey.' Thank you in advance for any help.
Ruairi
