Maybe I am missing something really simple, but after serval attempts I cannot see it!!

I have installed the complimentary CE10 5 user version that came with CR10.

I took the defaults all along the way. I cannot log into the CMC. All it does is loop around the log on screen. I understand the default should be Administrator with no password, but I cannot get in. Everything else looks OK, I can publish reports, all servers are enabled, but I cannot get into CMC.

Have I missed something?

Pete

I have looked at some forums and tried the 'LocalHost option in the URL. Still no access. Ther ehave been some references to Security options in IIS, but nothing clear.

The Guest account will not login in either.

Did you connect to an existing database or the MSDE that is installed? If it's an existing database you'll need that connectivity for the database.

Do you see a SQL Server running on the machine? If not, something is odd, if so, is it running?

Since you can hit the login page, IIS is at least running and allowing you to run those URLs.

I let CE10 deal with evrything for me. It installed MSDE and I gave it an password for the SA account. Everything else was a 'Typical' install option. I have an ODBC connection called CE10 ( default account )

Configuration Manager tells me all servers are enable and I can enabale and diable these at will. That means I can Log onto Crystal Enterprise from CCM.

I get the same issue wheter installed on Win2000 server or my XP Pro (SP2 ) machine at home.

If I continue to try and log in to CMC i sometimes get a message to say that I have 0 concurrent licences, but this is supposed to be a 5 user licence.

Hi,
When it loops back to the logon screen, what is the exact URL that is shown? ( Does it have a reference to logonerror?)

In your IIS, is the Crystal virtual directory correctly defined? How about the crystalviewers10 one?

Turkbear

I loop around 2 URL's. This is the first one:-
and then I will evenutally see this one

IIS was installed before CE10 so all looks OK as far as that is concerned. The paths to the files are correct, all other Crystal Web content works OK. Crystal has its web pages listed in IIS manager.

As I normally run in FireFox, I tried it out under IE as well, still nothing. Frustrating realy as it advises me to contact my system administrator, me11

Cracked It!!!

I have traced the problem to ZoneAlarm. My firewall must not have been set up 100% for CE10. Having temporarily disabled it, I can now log on OK. All I need to do now is remove CE10 from ZOneAlarm and then put it back in very carefully.

The I will have to work out how to run the reports, but I have the books for that!!

Thanks to all anyway

HI,
Not sure all that ZoneAlarm does, but if it blocks ports, be sure to read the docs about configuring the WCS to work with firewalls..The Web Component server uses, unless specifically directed not to, a random port for communications after the initial connection is made through 6400.

maybe I spoke too soon.
Having got it working on my home system ( WinXP ), I returned to work and retried it under Server2000 SP3 ( &SP4 ), no firewall as this is an isolated system.

I still cannot log into CMC or Crystal Enterprise. I can get into COfiguration manager and enable/disable servers etc.

Hi,
I'm confused ( not really an odd thing): If you can Enable the servers in the CCM, you ought to be able to get into the CMC, since the same login is needed for both...

Any errors listed in the Event Manager?

Having been bashing my head against a wall for a while, I am beginning to think it is down to paths, cookies etc.

I did not think about using LocalHost in this option as it was not my problem before. Now if I change the path to Localhost/crystal..... I get the Administrator username already filled in and it will accept the blank password.

When Iopen CCM I do not go through the browser, everythnig that does use the browser will fail.

I need to look at the set up of IIS and DNS and stuff like that.

Pete

Hi,
Given that behavior I would also suspect a DNS or IIS config problem..Be sure that the asp/csp DLLs are properly registered with IIS:
Properties..Home Directory..Configuration section will have the mapping info for the various file extensions...

Having just been down to a customers site and installed CE10 without all the problems I have on my own test rig, I must conclude there is something weird about my system.

Looks like a HDD format at the next convenient point.

Thanks for all the help anyway.
