I am in the Domain Admin group but I cannot open up audit properties of network folders and files. The error message is "A required priviledge is not held by the client" when I click on the Auditing button in the Security tab of a folder or file's Properties window. I have Auditing turned on in User Manager and in User Rights Policy I belong to groups that have all the audit-related rights, i.e. "Manage auditing and security" log and "Generate security audits". What gives? I though I can do everything as part of Domain Admins!

Got it! It turned out I was wrong about Domain Admins have all the power on the network. I had to point User Manager for Domain to the server where the share is on, e.g. Data_Server_03, edit the User Rights policy on that box to give Domain Admins or some group I'm in to have the right to audit files/folders. A logout followed by a login and I was able to view/edit files/folders on Data_Server_03.
