Cannont call out on Mega Path PRI 1

I got a new mega Path PRI line with 8 channels. I have the card configured and able to RECIVE calls. however i am unable to dial out.

When ever i do i get "Call Rejected". I called megapath and they ran debug on the adtran to see what i was sending. and It aprears that the Avaya is not sending the number i wanta dial before trying to pick up the channel....How do i configre this so we can move off the 4 POTS lines.

I support NBX systems. This Avaya is by far the hardest to configure any help?

Only hard because you are not used to it.
Set up your ARS route. Make sure to match you line group id. Set your dial out short code, 9N to dial out using the ARS route you configured.
For example, the short code will be
9N

I have the exact route... This unit was previously set up for 4 analog lines... does anything else need to be set on the pri config or system to be able to dial out correctly.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean it's sending digits as dialled rather than en-bloc. If so it's easily fixed :)

Inspect your ARS table very closely. The number you are dialing may match an entry that does not allow the rest of your dialed numbers to be passed.

If you are still stuck after reviewing your short codes / ARS tables (the "matching" and "en bloc" issues are likely here) use the monitor to trace what's happening. The ISDN tab allows you to get hex dumps of what is sent through the D channel.

If you see your correct called number there but it still doesn't work ONLY THEN you may want to try a different switch type in the PRI setup and see what happens. Sometimes the carrier will tell you to use "NI2" and then setting the switch type to anything but "NI2" may work.

There. IE stands for "Information Element", excepted that there are many of them and it doesn't tell you which missing one is frustrating your CO. It would be nice to have the lower level trace (the hex dump) as well as which number you tried to call.

If you do not see you correct called number there, you definitely have to fix your short codes / ARS tables. Here it looks like you are trying to setup a call without transmitting any destination number at all.

If it's ok, then what's your country, and what kind of switch/protocol your provider told you to use?

another issue you might be having may come from the type of telco switch you're attached to... I know that if you're attached to a GTD5, you need to do what is described in technical tip 212, for example. Was a private build back in the day, but still is required under R7.

This Technical Tip is to advise customers of a potential issue with T1/PRI lines configured for NI2 that may occur on upgrades or new installations with IP Office releases 4.1(15) and 4.2(4).

It has been observed that T1/PRI line configurations may not accept a called party type set to “National Number”. Certain NI2 line configurations are set to accept only called party type “Unknown Numbering Plan". The network provider may not process calls with the "National Number" format, rejecting the call setup as an invalid number format. This results in the inability to initiate outbound calls.

Avaya has produced private build 4.2(49601) to resolve the issue by providing the ability to adjust the called party type to "Unknown Numbering Plan". After installation of the private build you must activate the function by adding the following string into the NoUser Source Numbers tab and then merging the change into the configuration:

Thanks a lot for the tip because I totally need that for my setup of the week, and felt bad about not setting the switch type to NI2 as it should be. GTD5. Yuck.

What should be the ARS Table for a simple T1/Pri config...... I belive that is the actual issue too...

Private builds, unless made public(rarely) only come from Avaya. If it's not on the support site under downloads. Contact the vendor, unless you are a vendor, then contact the distributor. These systems are meant to be administered by professionals.
 
As long as the PRI channels are line group 0 it should work. Have the carrier confirm all settings on the PRI line. Check the System Status Applications to see what error codes you receive from them. Bring them to their attention. From my experience it is something on their end.

Avaya has made this system extremely easy to administer and troubleshoot. Of the 20 or so types of systems I service, this is my dream machine.If you are having problems I would advise bringing in someone else who knows what to look for and how to communicate it to the carrier.

I don't doubt your skills on the systems you know, but these are general settings that should have been established and agreed upon before migrating to a new circuit. If the carrier said it would work, they need to work with you to get it working.
 
iedatamaster, how you can work on Call damager and call this system confusing is beyond me. There are few settings that are not self explanitory, but short codes being one of them. That ARS table looks correct but that only matters if the system shortcodes and the actual configuration of the PRI is correct also.

I will confirm the rest is correct if you want to send a copy of the config (.cfg file) to the works address from the link in my signature below. Edit any sensitive/non relevant info, if you don't feel safe doing so fair enough :)
