Cancelling Recordset Execution

Hello,

Any tips on cancelling a recordset open method? When I do so, the program hangs up and takes forever to cancel the method, often prompting me to stop the program execution. I've tried the open method in a thread and asynchronous call, but in both cases, it takes forever for the cancel to take effect. Anyone know why, or has had experience cancelling recordset executions? Since the queries run for a long time, I'm trying to give the user the option to cancel the query. Thanks in advance.
