Cancel Reports on the database server

We have noticed that if we cancel a long running report in either Infoview or on the CMC that the query will continue to run on the database server. Our Admin person talked to Business Objects support and they told him that this was by design. Hmmm. So, now if we cancel a report we need to call our DBA to kill the query on Oracle.

Does anybody have a good solution for this? It seems to me that this should be an extention to the cancel process on Business Objects, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

Thank you.

Once a query is passed to Oracle it will continue to process it until complete or killed by a DBA-level user.
Cancelling the report does not kill your user session on Oracle ( at least until Oracle needs input from the user, then it may stop processing)
