cancel buttons

Hello... I just cant seem to get a grip on how to get the "cancel" button to work when using the show custom dialog option..i understand that it has to say Get ( LastMessageChoice=2 ) but i just dont know where it is suppose to go and if it is formatted correctly..all i wanted to do was put a simple dialog box such as "are you sure you want to do that" and have ok and cancel buttons as choises, when they choose cancel i want it to just go back to the current record when they choose ok to just continue.i just cant figure out what im doing wrong...this is why neewbies should be allowed to play with file maker..thanks
