Is it possible for a secretary to transfer a call directly to a fee earner’s voicemail box?
Cluster of MXe's running MCD4.2 with an inbuilt voicemail setup.

Yes use trans/conf and dial the voicemail pilot number and then prefix the mailbox with a star then hang up
you could setup a system speedcall to do this and then program this as a key on the sec's phone

e.g. vm hunt 7000 fee earner mailbox number 1234
create a speedcall 1000=7000*1234

Thanks for the reply
That's what I thought too but when I tried i dial 5555, pressed * and entered 1541. Instead of allowing me to leave a message for 1541 it rung 1541. Is that a 3300 vm option?? COS of the vm ports??

Hi,

I cant remember the process of the top off my head but its definetly in the Voicemail User Guide.

For a typical transfer to a mailbox, a user has to go through the following keystrokes:
i> press the Transfer button
ii> dial the Voicemail Hunt Group numbe, followed by # key
iii> then the required mailbox number

Thanks guys!

TomCotton, I have 3300mxe and using NuPoint for our voicemail. This is what I do to transfer to user voicemail without ringing his/her phone:

1. Press TRANSFER button
2. Dial voicemail Hunt Group example 1234, and follow by the * key (to bypass user mailbox if user has mailbox)
3. Enter 4 digit destination mailbox, and press RELEASE ME or hangup to complete.

I hope this will help

There are 2 different ways to do this depending on embedded or Nupoint

Nupoint is * then mailbox number
Embedded is # then mailbox number

It is a shame Mitel could not have aligned these functions to stop confusion.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Sometimes the vm will ignore the * or # digit after the DN of the voicemail HG if it is in a speed call.

We include a pause before the # (or * if it's a Nupoint), and we also tweak the speed call pause duration in the system options form in order to avoid half prompts when she gets the last digit.

You should not be using speed dials.

As I see it the FAQ is for a few specific users, where the key will do all the work.

With a system speed call that translates to VMHGpause*, anybody can transfer to any mailbox, but they have to type in the mailbox #, which is very useful in situations where there are 50 to a few hundred users..

@CharlesBr - I accept that your method can work, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't use it for 3 reasons.

1 - It can fail due to timing, especially if all VM ports are busy.
2 - It requires more digits to be dialed by the user (not really a quick dial)
3 - I can create hundreds of individual entrys as per the FAQ in a few minutes.
