I have multiple pages with the same background... a rather large file that takes up the whole screen. Is there some way to prevent the browser from having to re-download the same background image for every page they go to?

So long as you background is in a common area for all pages (ex. this shouldn't be a problem. Also, always reference the background with the same case every time (some browsers' cache are case-sensitive). To test...

Clear your cache
Go to the first page
View the cache and find how it references the background image
Go to the next page
View the cache and check to see that it is using the same background image (there shouldn't be another image of the same name)
Continue on for each suspect page.

Also, I have had problems with IE 5.x and Win2k with my cache not cache-ing. Don't know why but once I start putting stuff on a fresh install it no longer functions. Try a different machine.

Hope this helps, [sig]
Rob
robschultz@yahoo.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
