Can you save data with a subreport at runtime?

When calling an on-demand subreport at runtime, is it possible (within the .rpt file or with code) to also save the report with data? This would allow frustrated CR 9 developers to export subreports (a feature touted in CR 9, but not actually exposed to developers).
