Hi,

Sorry if this is a dumb question -I'm new to Notes programming!...

Can you program a button in the navigator pane to run an agent when it's clicked? I'd have thought so, but haven'y managed to figure it out yet.

Cheers!

If you access a Notes database via browser, you can have a button that runs an agent - but the agent must be configured to run on backend objects only - no UI functions are available (since they are run by the Notes client, and you don't have one).

Of course, if you browse outside a Notes database, this will not be possible.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

The users will be browsing the database through the Notes 6 client & I'm trying to configure the button to run an agent to import a CSV file into the database. The database is on the server & not local.
Would that still be possible?

Cheers

I do not think it will be possible to have the agent load the file itself, since that is a UI function.
But, the user could attach it in a field in a document and save the document. From that point, you could have an agent get the attachment and process the information.

Pascal.
