can you replace hard drive??

Is it possible to replace hard drive of sparc station 5??

I have sparc station 5 with 96RAM, I want to install solaris 8 on it, now as we require at least 2GB to install solaris 8, is it advisable to replace the harddrive of this station to make work for the purpose of intalling solaris 8.

Solaris 8 complete install (Core+Developer+OEM kit) will take about 1.5 GB hard drive space. If you hav that mush of disk space with you, u can surely go ahead.. But remember that u should hav enough space on the hard drive to store ur data .. So decide on ur hard disk size accordingly..

You also need to upgrade your memory.
Because Solaris 8 memory requirement is minimun 128 mb.

But still I could like to know if I can replace my 500MB ha rd drive on my sparc station, are you saying I can.

Yes you can replace the hard drive on ur sparcstation. Contact ur sun support vendor and he will do it for u!
