Can you recombine a CMYK PDF in Photoshop?

All we have is a 4 page CMYK PDF all greyscale representing values for each color of course..
 
Save each page as its own file. Call them C.pdf, Y.pdf, M.pdf, and K.pdf. Load all into Photoshop and then go to the Channels palette to merge the files as channels.

Great idea, could they also save each PDF as a eps file and then bring each PDF eps file into it's own layer and then colorize to the process color it's suppose to be. After they are done flatten the layers or leave as layers

But you hope there is no font conflicts or embedded images that could cause problems. I guess it depends how the file is built. I figure I throw my 2 cents in case they did not have photoshop and maybe give them another option to try.
