If I manually walk through importing a comma delimited file into Access, I can modify field attributes via the wizard and optionally save them for future use. Are those files exposed anywhere in Access? The number of columns in the input files varies and I would like to tailor it to the input file.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Have a great day!

I think it's possible to save the specs for any TextImport to a file (when using the wizard click ANDVANCED button - then click Save As in the next window. File is stored ).
If you create one for every .csv permutation you might get, you can use each schema (info is stored in the schema.ini file). Use TransferText with the Specification name parameter to set the Specs you need for any particular import

Great stuff Nikki, sorry I can only give you one star. I had manually done all of the stuff mentioned but couldn't find where Access tucked it away at. I looked everywhere I could think of to find that. How did you know to look where you did (without revealing any trade secrets of course ;-)?

Have a great day!

By accident - I used to teach this stuff to Support ppl & they came up with the WEIRDEST questions.
This just happens to be one of them ;-)

Cheers
Nikki
