A coworker has created a great dB with reports that actually tell us what we want to know. How can he password protect the ability to save or otherwise deny users the ability to save those reports if they are not placed in a file or drive external to the dB? If this can't be done, is there a way to limit which files/drives the reports can be saved to?

Thank you very much,
Steve P.

Steve,

That's an interesting question. IMO there are some things that need to be done in order for this to happen.

1. You need to take away admin access to the db. (no db window for users).
2. You need to create a way for the users to run (see) the report and maybe one output method (printing).

Doing these two items will make it so the users are not able to:
1. Gain table access
2. Save reports ANYWHERE
3. Print reports

If you don't want them to print reports, then you could remove that ability, but I would guess that your users would like to be able to actually use the reports...

Does that help?
