I am looking at a Fax server solution that will provide us with the functionality needed to provide faxing from the desktop. The way this product would integrate would be analog integration. I was wondering if CIsco CallManager 4X can do an analog integration that will allow DID information pass-through. Can anyone advise if this is possible. Thank you for your assistance.

It will pass caller ID but not DTMF digits for the DID so the fax server can recognize the owner of the fax. FXS ports by design only provide ringing voltage.
You will need PRI or SIP integration to achieve what you need.

So with that being said if I am looking to route via DID to redirect the fax to the correct recipient it will not work?

Basically what I am looking to do is set up a DID as a CTI route point and call fwd all to a pilot number that is set up in CallManager with several ports of the VG assigned to a hunt group. Take the DID input into the FAX server so that the server knows where to route the fax to. So when DID 1234 receives a fax it will fwd to the fax server via the pilot number. Grab the first available fax port receive the fax and because the DID is programmed into the fax server it will email the fax information to the expected recipient. Based on this discription do you think it will work? Thank you.

So each user has its own DID? or just one DID for the whole system, server answers and you get all the faxes in one box?

If the 1st is correct see my above post.

If it is the latter it will work but what's the point of a fax server? get a fax machine.

You need a PRI integration or SIP so that after the call gets routed to the fax server it also passes along the did info, therefore the fax server knows which users inbox the fax goes to.
With analog integration you lose the did portion as it is a diffent technology not designed what you are trying to do.

Unless you map each DID to a specifig VG port.
For example DID 1234 port 1, DID 1235 port 2, etc.
So DID 1 will only get one call at a time on a specific port.
That will work but talk about hodge podge.

Why don't you try Cisco's On-Ramp/Off Ramp TCL scripting on the Gateway? It will route faxes based on the incoming DID number to the appropriate email account. No VG, analog port or fax machine is involved at all. The router acts as a psuedo fax server. Since it never actually hits CCM, doesn't matter what version you have.

The router/gateway must be H.323 for this to work but it will send faxes directly to an Exchange email address based upon the programming in the router.
