Is there the ADP equivalent of an MDE ie can you compile the Access part into an executable?

Yes, it is called an ADE. On the Access menu select Tools / Database Utilities /Make MDE. If the option is greyed out, you may have to convert your database (actually the ADp file) to another format.

Oops, misprint. That should have been MAKE ADE of course.
