Can you migrate only the user objects and print queues?

I am the unoffical system admin (still very green) for a Netware for Small Business 4.11 network with 14 clients. We just did a clean install of NWSB 4.11 onto a brand new box that will replace our older server which also runs NWSB 4.11. (Our new server will use the same server name and organization). I was hoping that there was a simple method for copying/migrating just the user objects, print queues, and rights from the current server. We don't really need a full migration since we're planning to just copy all our data files (dos apps mostly) onto a workstation and then copy them over to the new server (recreating the same program directories). I was just hoping to avoid re-entering all the users, print queues (and configurations) onto the new server (my boss wants it all done very quickly). Any help would be appreciated. Thank You. Here is the best solution if you have not already done so. Install ther server using a NEW server name. Never use the same name. Install NDS onto it and place it into your existing NDS tree. Move the data from one server to the other, keep in mind that you will have to re-grant appropriate rights etc. When the server has all the data on it, make it the MASTER NDS Database and do a DSRerpair on it and the other server. When complete, remove NDS from the old server. Here is something you may want to consider though. you might want to leave the second server for fault tolerance of NDS, this will allow you to have a Master and Read write replica which is a good thing. If you still prefer to do the single server thing, then the solution I mentioned will be the best and easiest.

Hi Mark,

Do you know of a way to move users between context?
The server is novell 4.11

I like to be able to move the users rather than creating a new userid and deleting the old one.

Thanks much

Sina

You can highlight the object, and choose OBJECT | MOVE from the menu or <F7>.
Use the navigation button to select the new context. One thing to keep in mind, when you move an object, it will loose any permissions that were set to the old OU (since it is no longer in that OU). Therefore you will need to reassign such rights either to the User, the new OU or use a group.
