Hello,

I was wondering how you can load an .mdw from an Access '97 application. I'd even settle for a way to load it via a DOS batch file prior to launching Access.

I have a co-worker who wrote an app entirely for Access. I'd like to keep her users out of the "guts" and just have them use her interface but I can't modify the c:\Windows\System\system.mdw file because some of them use Access themselves. We are also on a state network.

I am familiar with Access security and manage it via VB applications but I haven't figured out a way to swith the .mdw's on the fly with Access. Any ideas?

Thanks,

make a shortcut... and use the command switch /wrkgrp to select the security file... here is an example of how one of mine is...

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" /wrkgrp "\\server10\dbdir\mydb.mdw" "\\server10\dbdir\mydb.mde"

and then when the database opens, it uses the security file
\\server10\dbdir\mydb.mdw

hope this helps...

I have the same problem, except that we have machines with access runtime not always installed in the same directory. Because I cant depend on the location of the access.exe file, I create shortcuts to the access.mdb and the users get to the databases that way. Is there any way to "join" a client to a new mdw file programmatically or through register changes. I have a couple of hundred machines that I will have to individually touch if I cant figure out a way to change the mdw remotely.

thanks for any suggestions.
