I have several LOG files that are well over 100MB on my Exchange 5.5 box with entries that date back to 1999. Can I just delete these files and will the system recreate them? These aren't the transaction logs, they are the ones in the IMCDATA\LOGS folder. My server is running out of disk space and I need to try and free up some space.

You should review the settings on the IMS's Diagnostic Logging tab, these are responsible for generating the logs you are seeing. My recommendation is to have all the settings at Minimum (except Message Archival, which I set to None) - you can always up the loging level when troubleshooting a specific issue.

Remember that when you change the logging level, you need to stop and restart the IMS service for the new settings to take effect.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at the current log settings and delete some of the files to make some space.
