Can you convert an base cabinet to an additional PIM?

I have two NEC 2000 IPS systems both are 1-PIM systems. What if remove the processor board etc. from one system can I still connect it to the full system as an additional pim if I only install line cards? Is there any true difference besides the hardware between these cabinets?.

Line cards,
Bus Cables form PIM 0 to PIM 1
Ribbon cable in additional PIM needs to swapped with a -E cable.
SW to support the additional PIM can be verified in F88>01>
