I have a W2K Server with SQL Server 2000 SP2 installed. The port number is 1433 (default), but we need to change it. Is it possible to change this port number or do I have to reinstall?

Run the sql server network utility. If you loaded the client tools it should be on your start menu.

Select tcp/ip and press the properties button.

You can change the port from there.

You will need to restart sql server for the change to take effect.
