Hello,

I am importing an XML file with data to excel.
Is it possible to have XML (or XSL) control the excel page setup options?
In specific I am interested in changing the Orientation from Portrait to Landscape when the xml is imported so the user won't need to do it manually. It can be found in excel under File->Page Setup...->Page tab.

Actually I rendering the XML on the server for the clients through Java Web application.
This schema means that each client will have to install it on his PC and I would like to avoid that. I was thinking about special XML tags that can be used...
If I am missing something with this schema please tell me :)

Roy,

One use for an XML schema, in fact the only use I have for XML schema, is as an input document to a design tool such as Stylus Studio or XML Spy. These tools can use the schema to produce XSLT, about which you asked in your original post.

So, what you would be using on your server would be the XSLT you developed using the Office 2003 reference schema. Your clients would presumably be receiving XML properly formatted for use by Excel (this particular type of XML has been called SpreadsheetML by Microsoft).

This book has been helpful to me, though it is not an exhaustive reference.

OK, I have downloaded it, can you please explain me how to use it?

Thanks!

Roy, there is considerable tutorial information in either of these products, both of which are available on a 'free trial' download.
