I'm pretty sure Windows.edb can be deleted but just want to make sure, can some clarify whether or not this file can be deleted?

Problem is I have a nice new shiny 2008 storage server and C: has nearly run out of space already (it's a 50 gig drive). I've disabled the search service to stop Windows.edb growing any bigger.

Thanks

But it will impact your search results if you are using the built-in search capabilities. Windows.edb is the database used to index files, folders, etc for searching. So by deleting it you're slowing down your search, and if you have search indexing enabled you're likely going to get the issue again after the next indexing session runs.
