Hoping someone had to deal with this issue before.

Is there a way to control a Linksys router without using their Web interface? The obvious choices being Telnet or SNMP, but I can't find any information related to Linksys' support of these protocols. Appreciate the help.

Basically we need another application to authenticate connecting MAC addresses and tell the router whether to let it in or not.

Thank you in advance.

You cannot telnet into the router.

You can use SNMP on the WAP11 before version 2.6 with tools you can find on the Internet, but to my knowledge you cannot on any other AP or router from Linksys.

Is this wireless?

Use Funk Software's Odyssey suite.

Thank you. That's unfortunate.

Yes, it this is for a wireless implementation. We were looking into using BEFW11S4 or the G router but it looks like we may not be able to get what we need out of it.

Do you know if NetGear or D-link have these capabilities?

Thank yuo again.

You do not need Telnet to setup an authentication scheme. The Linksys G router supports WPA and Radius authentication.

Look at the Funk Odyssey suite as an implemented example of using Radius or even Windows NT authentication services.

The other possibility, and not very hard or expensive, is to have a proxy server.

Here is an example that could be used. It has an API and costs something like $25.00. The example shown in the link is an Internet Cafe control:
