Hi,
We are trying to program 3904 to an existing tn. We deleted and recreated phone almost 10 times now. Ofcourse we are doing the usual deacquiring in symposium and genesys.

When I create this phone to other available tn it works fine.
My question is can we test TN from the switch please?

Your valuable suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Regards.

What doesn't work?
Are you making an ACD set?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

If you really feel you have a bad TN you can test it at the MDF. Simply get a spare phone jack, connect 2 cross connect wires to it, and punch it down on the TN in question. If it is good there, and not good at the end station then you have a house wiring issue. If it is not good at the MDF then you have a possible bad TN. (could be a wiring issue at the MDF also but that is rare)

Thank you John and Acewarlock for your prompt replies.
Yes this is ACD phone set. Can we test the PLID= TN in PBX switch? Is there any command or way to check in PLID located in PBX?

Please help.

Regards.

Coming back to your query acewarlock, this is digital ACD 3904 set which I deleted and programmed to other available TN and it works fine. However when I used this specific TN same phone from scratch it does not even give me any thing just dead.. any help?

build a set on it and test it on the frame like was suggested, ports do go bad, and you might have either a bad port or bad punch on your cross connect block

Where are you connecting the phone? Maybe this is a cable issue and not a TN issue. Can you do as john suggested and test it at the MDF?

You can also try rolling the pairs on the jumper at the frame. If the set comes up after rolling the jumper, then your jack has a rolled pair.

Thank you again all, can anyone please tell me what is MDF ? Sorry to ask you dumb question but I am new..

I get that tn as available in ld 20 when I ran LUVU and entered 2000 for type.

Any suggestions please?

Thank you in advance.

Regards.

It's the "Main Distribution Frame" usually located in the switch room. That is where you’re PBX cable and Station Cables are cross connected. What it sounds like is that TN is not terminated to anything. Good Luck

MDF is your main demarcation. What they are trying to tell you is to go to the point where your cables from the switch are punched down, probably on a 110 block. It hopefully is labeled with any loop shelf card unit info (the TN). Instead of having a cross connect to a station, punch down a jack where that tn is.

AS others have said, where the cables from the PBX connect on the wall to some kind of block and you do the crossconnect to the station cable going to the phone. I usually have a phone jack with a short piece of wire on it and punch it down on the TN on the MDF and plugin a phone to see if it works. do tish on a TN you know works first and then if the phone works, then move ti to the one that doesn't work. When you program a test phone just make a plain phone and not an ACD phone for testing.

Thank you, I tried a brand new TN and program a phone in ld 11 without any key and it shows up right away and when I took the phone out from this TN it still show me Date and time on the phone. However possible Bad tn don't show me anything.. the phone was working on that tn last week and while troubleshooting we found that Tn is problem. Then I delete the phone from this TN and it become available again in ld 20. Is it possible for bad TN to become available again in switch. My continutiy from jack to MDF is good, and from TN to switch I don't know how to check.. I want to try everything before I open ticket with our vendor.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

Regards.

Yes good or bad the TN will show up when you do LUVU if nothing is programmed on it. All that command is asking is tell me what TN's DO NOT have xxxx type of phone programmed on them.

Did you read this? If you can't do this, then you should call your Vendor.

When you program a test phone just make a plain phone with a DN and not an ACD phone for testing.

Thank you once again for all your time and valuable guidance and patience.

With Best Regards.
