Hi

thanks in Advance.

I have created 30 reports ,Now around 20 users would be accessing my reports they are not designing the reports they are viewers only.

My question is do I need to instal crystal reports software on their machines ??
OR can I make executable reports by which they can see the report without installing the software on their machines.

We have visual basic 6 software also. DO i need to use vb and make an exe to distribute the reports to these 20 users

Pl. Let me know your feedback.

Thanks in Advance.

It might be nice to create a VB front-end application so that the user can select the report by a descriptive name (in a listbox), rather than hunt in a directory of 30 filenames to decide which report to run. Brian J. Alves

You can intergrate the active X or Crystal Report runtime components into a V.B. application and then distributed this to the users.

If you are going to do thsi I would recommend getting hold of a copy of 'The Complete Guide to Crystal Reports' which takes you through the benefits of each method of V.B. integration and discusses how to deal with passing parameters and all that jazz to your report for record selection and customisation.

I'm doing exactly the same thing as ksraju6 and distributing it on the intranet. My questions will be:
Can they just run the program by entering the URL pointing to the program that resides in the server?
Do I need a special Web Server to handle Crystal Report?

Thanks.

You should also read the FAQ on compiled reports. This doesn't require VB or CR, just the runtime engine which you can install for free. Ken Hamady, On-site/Phone Crystal Reports Training/Consulting
