we just installed a new pri that has caller id on it. for land line callers we see the name and after answering the call we hit info and scroll we see the number. for wireless callers, we only see the words "wireless caller" and have to hit info to get to the number. we can only get to the number after it is answered. our receptionist wants to know if one of the partners is calling from his cell phone so that she can prioritize his call. we would like to see the number in the display when the phone rings and then have the option to view the caller id name. is there a way to display the number on the screen (most phones are the m7316) instead of the name/wireless caller we now see or should we just call the carrier and get caller id turned off?

It depends on which Nortel system and software you have. Many revisions allow you to specify whether name or number appear first. Please post your system and software data for a specific answer.

For example, on one system you might:

A. Configuration - next
B. General admin - Show
1. Sys speed dial - Next until you see
9. Call Services - Show
Auto Call Info - Show
Set Services - Show
Show set - Enter the extension number you set as the caller ID set.
Autolog/ Show VMsg - Next
Log Space - Next until you see
1st Display: Line - Press the change button in your display to what information you want to show 1st. Line number, Caller ID name or Caller ID line number.

AGAIN, this depends on your exact system, but it gives you the kind of options that likely exist in your programming setup.

PRI is supported on MICS 4.0 and later.

On that software release (and all the later), you will find the setting misseditbythatmuch was talking about under Terminals & Sets > [Receptionist DN] > Telco Features > 1st Display: Name. Change it to Number.
