Hi!
Bit unusual, but as VFP is my main programming tool, I do wonder if I can use vfp for next job:

I need pulses (about 1200Hz) to control equipment (tools).
Now I think of programming good old LPT1 to let that port have the required pulse from one of its data-lines.

Silly idea doing this with VFP?

Hi Keith,
Thnks for yr response.
Could you give me some reason why not to use VFP for generating pulses?
BTW I need pulses (adjustable) between 100-1200Hz

You could either use a whole computer to perform this task or a very small oscilator circuit.
Many years ago, Sinclair Spectrum era, we played with robots and used the 'enormous 128k of computing power' to control numerous servos and stepper motor drivers.
Using a modern PC, you would effectively be using significantly more computing power to do much less.

Geoff,
To be Hounoust I just only focussed on controlling the LPT via VFP.
But you are right. Limits of VFP will prevent good result.
