Hi,

A user left the company and another user will take charge of his account. We need to be able to consolidate both their address books so that the new user will be the only who has all the addresses in one machine.

Is it possible to combine two address books together? (I can't touch the names.nsf file without overwriting the other).
Please HELP!

thnx.

Remember, the local address books also contain information such as server connections and location documents. I am not aware of any method to merge the two (but I suppose it would be possible). I would just rename one of them to names2.nsf and add this into my preferences as a local address book. Lamaar75@hotmail.com

We were not able to merge the two address books. BUt this is what we did instead:

We created a database on the server and dumped the old user's info/addresses to it.
We then created a new database on the new user's local machine and named is as the old user's address book. (file name olduser.nsf)
Chose Personal Address Book (pernames.ntf)
After creating the database, we then copied the old user's info from the server to the new user's local machine (copy and paste!)
And there it is. We have another address book. We just then bookmarked it so he can access the old user's address book separately.

Only thing is, we can't access it in the address lookup so we have to open the address book and click from there....

this will work for us for now... any other easier suggestions will be appreciated

In that case, why don;t you just copy and paste the 'contacts' into one Personal Address Book? Lamaar75@hotmail.com

yeah, we did that eventually. We were kinda experimenting and yes, we found out that it works. (as long as the new addresses are CATEGORIZED, we know which ones are whose')...

thanks btw =)
