I need to backup accounting data monday thur friday for 6 weeks and then have Backup Exec start overwriting on week 7.

I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Set up a Media Set with enough tapes to hold your 6 weeks worth of backups. Right-click on the Media Set and set the properties to 1008 hours for Overwrite. (24hrs * 7 days * 6 weeks = 1008 hours). However, BE will NOT start overwriting until it runs out of tape space. For example: you have a 100GB tape and backup 1 GB a day. BE will use this tape and APPEND to it for 100 days. Once the tape is full, then it will begin OVERWRITing the data on the tape.

My bag. I forgot to say that we are using Backup to Disk feature. So in theory it will never run out of space, until the HD is full.

So maybe just setting the properties to 1008 hours may work?

Yes, setting the overwrite time should work in your case.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and let you know in 1008 hours...LOL
