Can the CE-10 and BOE-XI SDKs co-exist on the same server?

We are starting to migrate the reports for our .NET applications from our CE-10 infrastructure to our new BOE-XI (R2) infrastructure.

When we deploy our updated BOE-XI (R2) SDK applications to our DEV server, we are getting errors because the version 11.5 assemblies are not available on that server.

Can the CE-10 and BOE-XI SDKs co-exist on the same server - or do we need to set-up a separate .NET application DEV box for the XI applications?

Have you specifically installed the .NET SDK on the dev server?

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Not yet, we are planning to do that now....

We were concerned that we the CE-10 and BOE-XI SDKs might conflict if they were both installed on a single server.

It appears that the CE-10 and BOE-XI SDKs do conflict if they are installed on a single application server.

When trying to install the BOE-XI SDKs you get the following alert....

Unsupported Products Found
===========================
The following products were detected and cannot be upgraded. They must first be uninstalled.

Crystal Enterprise 10.0 (Only Default, Single-Box Installations are upgradable)

We have done on one two .Net application servers that will only host our newer applications, have to figure out a good migration path for the others.

I have spoken a number of times with BOBJ support over the last few days and they now confirm that the Side-by-Side Install of CE-10 and BOE-XI (R2) SDKs on a single.NET application server will work and is supported.

However, because of the way the BOE-XI (R2) install package is built - it won't let you install it in the order we would prefer (gives error reported in the thread above).

The official BOBJ support work-around for this issue is below :

1.) Uninstall CE-10 (SDK)from your .NET application server.

2.) Install BOE-XI (SDK) on your .NET application server.

3.) Reinstall CE-10 (SDK) on your .NET application server.

We will be testing this in the next few days - I will post a follow-up if there are any issues.
