Hi, during the original installation of BrightStor ArcServe, someone decided to install everything on the server's C drive. Now with the ArcServe database, it is getting full. On the D drive we have plenty of space and I would like to move the database there.

Can this be done without reinstalling the product?

What David means is: no, you cannot do this without reinstalling the product.

Actually, you can move the database and media pool to new location.
First, go into job and save it off as an .asx script file through the save option, this allows you to quickly replug the job back in and makes it think it is not a new job, so the old database and media pools files will be reused.
Then copy the 00000.qsd folder and Database folder to an archived location. The qsd folder holds the job que and the database folder has all the databases.
Uninstall the old location, reinstall into new location.
Patch and what-not you need to do, then go into backup manager and select open, and point to job script files.
Once jobs are reloaded, cycled down all services, copy the qsd and database folders back into the new default locations, recycle the services to reread the database and media pools. Should be fine... done it a few times myself.. CA said it couldn't be done, but it is doable.

You can move the ARCserve database without reinstalling by using NTFS junctions.

Download Junction v1.03 from SysInternals

Create a new folder for the ARCserve database where ever you want to move it to. (E:\ARCserve_Database)

Stop all ARCserve services.

Open a cmd shell. (Start -> Run -> cmd) and run the following:
cd "\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup"
ren DATABASE DATABASE.OLD
junction DATABASE E:\ARCserve_Database
cd DATABASE.OLD
copy *.* ..\DATABASE

Start the ARCserve services

Be sure everything is working fine then delete the "ARCSERVE.OLD" directory.

Junctions can also be used to move other directories which tend to grow large such as logs.
