Can TCL/Tk be used to Control a X-window app?

Just wonder if there is a way to use a TCL/TK app to control a gui X app and pull the verbose output from the console.  The problem is that I have a gui binary running on X that I want to extract it's console text output.  But inorder to do so, I need to take control of the app and press one button.  Can this be done, and what tool should I use?  Thanks in advance.
