I have just downloaded and installed both Tomcat 4.0.6 and jdk1.3.1_02 in my PC running Windows 2000 professional. I have ZoneAlarm installed and is connected to Internet thourgh cable modem.

Installation of both Tomcat and Jdk went well without any problem. Environement variable JAVA_HOME was set to point to the jdk directory. Tomcat comes up after running the startup.bat and everything seems to be OK! However, when I try to access the Tomcat home page using I got a "HTTP 500 - Internal server error". I then changed the port number from 8080 to 3693, as suggested in the troubleshooting guide, and repeat with I got the same error. After tons of trial and error effort, I finally managed to get it working and got the Tomcat default home page. However, I have to disable the network connection and shut down ZoneAlarm before it will work!!

There has to be some little minor thing that I didn't do right as that kind of condition will not be tolerated by the general public. In the Tomcat default home page, it has a link to the Sun site and there is no way that can work as I have to disconnect Internet before I got that page.

Has anybody out there ran into the same problem? Is there any work-around and/or remedy available? Any help is appreciated.
